Christmas 2014 is creeping to an end… although I’m determined to make it last for as long as possible!
I’ve just returned home after a very busy 3.5 days visiting family all over the country. Christmas for us started at 1pm on Christmas Eve after I’d finished work. Matt and I picked up a friend in Manchester and we all drove across to Leeds where we dumped our many bags and headed straight for the pub. Christmas Eve was spent with our friends at a local curry house. After our curry feast we then trawled the pubs in Garforth before heading home after midnight to ensure we had some sleep before Santa arrived.
On Christmas Day morning I woke early – as always – and Matt and I opened our stockings in bed. After seeing what Santa had brought us I laced up my trainers and headed out for a Christmas morning run. It may seem strange to exercise on Christmas Day but I enjoy the peace and quiet on Christmas Day morning – plus i gets my metabolism burning before eating my weight in Pig in Blankets and Chocolate!
After returning from my run we sat down with Matt’s family and enjoyed bacon butties before opening our presents together. Soon after his Nana and Grandad arrived and we enjoyed our Christmas Dinner together.
On Boxing Day morning we awoke early and packed up the car before heading back across the country to Cumbria to visit my family. Upon arriving in Carlisle we met my family in town where my little brother and sister were already burning through their Christmas money. Disappointed by most of the sales, my most exciting purchase was 100% Egyptian Cotton Bed Sheets and new mugs – I must be turning into a Grown-up!
We spent the evening travelling around Carlisle visiting family and dropping off gifts like Santa, before enjoying an evening of Christmas TV, Prosecco and nuts in our pyjamas.
On the 27th Matt and I headed to my brothers new house where he was hosting our Christmas Day for my mums side of the family. We exchanged gifts, enjoyed lots and lots of wine, lots of food and played with my new Selfie Stick. Even the new puppy Izzy was interested in a selfie!
Our whole Christmas was topped off by my brother and his girlfriend announcing their engagement. He’d popped the question on Christmas Day morning after their run together. He’d resized her Grandma’s ring, then wrapped it up in a large box underneath the Christmas Tree.
This morning Matt and I arrived back home to our cold and empty house which was void of any Christmas food and booze – which is strange after over indulging over the past few days! All our presents are under the tree as we figure out where to put them and the Christmas pyjamas are in the wash. However we’ve still family to visit and enjoy our time with tomorrow, plus a few extra days off work so we’ll be prolonging Christmas 2014 for as long as possible! I can assure you our Christmas Tree will stay standing until the New Year and there will be many more Hot Chocolates enjoyed from my Christmas Mug.
