Kitchen Inspiration // Duck Egg, Sage Green & Teal

The joy of having a new house that I actually own is that I can essentially ruin it. And by ruin I mean put my own personal stamp on it. After years of living in rented accommodation; having to ask permission to hang mirrors, photos and put up shelves, living in a magnolia shell of a home, I’m ecstatic to play with colour!

If I had my way I would of painted the house the first weekend of living here, however I’m now glad that Matt pried the paint brush out of my hands and asked me to wait a little. We’ve been in our home for over three month now so I have a much better understanding of how we use the space and the natural light in the rooms. Which (I think) means I have a better understanding of which colours will work in which room.

My plan is to get the downstairs decorated by Christmas so I have a few months to do it. The first room I’m going to tackle is the kitchen which is the brightest and sunniest room in the house thanks to it being south facing. For this reason I’m not too afraid to play with colour and have narrowed it down to one of the above; Duck Egg, Sage Green or Teal.

The shades of colour between green and blue are definitely some of my favourite. So I’ve turned to Pinterest for inspiration and ideas, and I’d love to know your opinion!

Which of the three mood boards is your favourite?

ah I love all three colors! If I had to choose though, I’d stick with the duck egg for the kitchen (something bright and vibrant but still light enough) and I’d pick the sage green for the living room area 🙂 Have fun decorating!
